About Me

A dreamer. A believer. A jack of all trades, but master of nothing. That’s me.  photoOh, I’m the girl next door that minds her own business, tends to her three rambunctious children (ages 2, 4, and 7), and tries to keep up with her charismatic  husband.

So, what makes me think I have produced a novel worthy of reputable publication? Faith. The idea to write Heaven Sent came to me after a very long, “quest for answers” prayer, asking God to point me in the right direction, show me a sign of something I could do to inspire people; to accomplish something bigger than myself; something I could be proud of; something that would fulfill my creative spirit. And fifteen minutes later, the answer hit me. And when I say it hit me, I mean it struck me like a bolt of electricity, sending goose bumps rippling down my arms as a wave of excitement crashed through my body. The story, beginning to end, flooded my brain while I waited to purchase milk in the check-out line at Walgreens. The moment was so profound that I had to forfeit my place in line in order to retrieve two more products: a pencil and a notebook. Knowing full well I wouldn’t remember all the little details swarming through my head, I jotted them down as soon as I returned to my car. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????And within minutes, I had written a four-page storyline, Heaven Sent in a nutshell.

Yes, I pray. I believe in prayer. Why? Because, it’s my lifeline. I make all the “wrong” decisions when I don’t pray about them first. Difficult times always become easier after I place my burdens in God’s hands. Thankfully, he’s always awake, ready to receive my headaches. He’s my lifeline.

Do I have the credentials to be a published author? Umm… no.

Do I have the writing experience? Well… not unless you count the fifteen songs I wrote in high school that no one’s ever heard. Okay, no.

Can I become a published author? Why not. I wasn’t qualified to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader either, but that didn’t stop me from trying out. Oh, and I made it… four years in a row.

I was also selected to be a “Group Leader” two out of the four years I was apart of the team. I wasn’t their best dancer and I wasn’t the prettiest girl at try-outs (thanks to my jack-of-all-trades curse), so, what made the panel of twelve, difficult-to-impress judges choose me over the other 600, gorgeous, highly trained dancers vying for their attention? I’d like to think the judges sensed my determination, my desire to succeed, my willingness to be coached, and my insatiable personality that would ultimately  drive me to continue earning my spot amongst the elite group of women even after my white boots were worn to a frazzle. Maybe they sensed my tenacity.

It took a year and a half of writing every single day to finish Heaven Sent. What took me so long? Well… I had no clue how to write. Seriously. You may have noticed. Intermittently, I had to read books on “how to write.” I’m still learning. Actually, I’m light years away from reaching perfection so as to further solidify my jack-of-all-trades role, but I know I will continue to grow with every word I write and every sentence I compose (thank goodness); but… in the end, I produced a product for which I am proud. Through faith.

What inspired me to write Heaven Sent? Oh, just a handful of life experiences. Performing with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and embarking on a celebrity casted USO tour provided a starting point…wayne

…and then battling cancer and losing a family friend to the war in Afghanistan paved the way for the more unsettling moments in the book. Though, not all experiences in life are good, somehow they have a way of shaping who we are. With Heaven Sent, I felt compelled to share a few of my life experiences in the form of a fictional romance story.

My hope is that you’ve read and enjoyed my first book. If you did, kindly recommend it to others and leave a book review or comment on my blog. This book will only get published if its readers believe in it as much as I do.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.
